One of watercolor class student brought us eggs. 2 dozens of eggs for each student and he gave me 6 dozens. I can't eat them myself. So, I gave 2 dozens to my neighbor and 2 dozens to my friend N. and I am going to have 2 dozens for myself. Now, I have to watch my cholesterol.

I have so many things to carry when I go to watercolor class, especially when I do demonstration. Therefore, a bag I have now is not big enough anymore. So, I went to "Target" to get new and larger bag. I found a right size one. I can carry that tomorrow to the class.

The breakfast meeting on Sunday was uproarious one. Nowadays,  only John and I came  to the breakfast. However, one more person joined on that Sunday. He was a business man from Michigan. And he was totally stranger. Why does such a thing occur? It was all John's work. He is very good to make a friend. He is curious about people. So, he will start conversation with stranger easily. I wish I could do the same. So, We had a nice breakfast and a nice conversation.

I was invited a dinner. It was a Hanukkah dinner. I am not a jewish but I like a good food. Especially, a potato pancake is my favorites. There was about 30 people at the dinner and there were mostly Jewish. They sang a song of Hanukkah and lighted  8 candles at the end of dinner party. It was almost midnight. It was an interesting experience.

It was a cold day today. Rain started in the evening and temperature went further down. I was born in cold country and I hate a cold weather.

I stay home a lot. I am painting all the time. Because it's my job. But some people might say that not good I should go out more. I agree about that. So, I went out today. I needed more postage stamps and some foods. Also, I had to go to a bank.
I went  to Marukai Store. A large Japanese food store and furniture store on the second floor. I needed only four items to buy but the store is so big and crowded. And what is more, I wasn't familiar this store I couldn't fine things I wanted. I spent a log time in the store and I was about to give up. Then I fond all the items I was looking for were right front of me.

I was invited a Hanukkah dinner. It was the first day of a Hanukkah. A friend of mine N and I went to E's apartment where we were going to have the dinner. It was a very nice dinner. We had a chicken, Brussels sprouts and potato pancake. Especially, I was impressed by her potato pancake. It was so good. I tried it a couple of times before and I didn't like it. But finally, I had a good one.

By the way it was a Hanukkah dinner but did we have a Jewish person at the table.

A Sign of Autumn in the Wood

I have been painting watercolor with great enthusiasm since a friend of mine N and I came back from Japan. I had a strong impression by landscapes at Azumino in Nagano prefecture. It was a foot of mountain range we called a Japan alps. It was our first time visit the area and we were falling in love with the place. So, I am ready to paint all the scene that I captured with my camera. I am serious. And if I go back to Japan, I am sure I will visit there again.

The other night, on the way back from the restaurant where we had a dinner. We saw a beautiful illumination light in front of a house. It was a so beautiful our driver N changed a course and stopped the car in front of the house. We stayed there for a while. I like Christmas decorations.

Oh my god, this is not good. I had only three students at my class.

John and I had a breakfast at Mitsuru-cafe in Little Tokyo. We enjoyed a Japanese, Mexican and American style meal.

It was a very thick fog in the morning. The morning like this I had to be careful during a morning walk. Especially, when I across a street. I was almost hit by car a couple of times  before. Some drivers were very hurry in the morning.

Finally, I got out of a jet lag.

I took a middle distance morning walk.

(I have three different courses for a morning walk.)

It was an hour and half walk include Tai-Chi exercise. 

I almost forgot that how wonderful feel like to be just normal condition.

I had a schedule for this morning but

a little chores here and there kept me busy.

I had a just enough time to take a shower and have lunch

and go to a watercolor class.

I made a slides show for my friend N. However, this is my first attempt. I really didn't know how. First, I used an iphoto in my mac. It has a tool to see slides show but I can't edit. So I played slides show on iphoto and took a video with my camera and import the video into imovie and I edited it. It was a crazy stepes but I made it.

I came back from Japan trip a couple of days ago and I am suffering a jet rag. I started painting this morning. I have a lot of materials to paint. I can enjoy painting new subject for a while.

I bought a carry-bag. It's for a trip to Japan. I have been looking for it very carefully. I needed a specific size and I finally found it I was looking for.

24 days to an exhibition in Japan. I have painted small sized watercolor total of fifteen. However, I only need eight of them. Now I have to choose eight of painting I take to Japan.

I got a flu shot this afternoon. Kaiser hospital which I am a member of gives the flu-shot every year.

I delivered a painting to SGFAA gallery. A juried show will be this weekend. I almost for got about it. Fortunately, a president of SGFAA sent me a mail.  However, I don't have time to paint new one for this show. So, I had to take one of the paintings I have down sometime ago.

I got a ticket to Japan. Well, I should say we got tickets to Japan. One of my friends and I are going to Japan in end of October this year. It's going to be mostly sightseeing but I have a little bit of business, too. I am going to do an art exhibition there with my Japanese artist friend.  This is the second exhibition we do together. I have to paint new paintings within a month. I am going to be very busy for a while.

I had a watercolor class to teach this afternoon. I felt very good today. Every time I see students doing go job makes me feel good.

Half Dome

I painted this "Half Dome in Yosemite Park" as a watercolor class demonstration piece. It was the third day. We went to a meadow near by art center where we can see the half dome. I usually do a demonstration with in 30 minutes or so. This one was no exception. I liked this work and it sold right after I finished that afternoon.

I had a little celebration party last night, because my watercolor class was a great success. I decided give myself an award.  I had two cans of beer and snacks and I felt good and happy. However, I couldn't sleep all night last night. So, I had to drive home with a sleepy head. By the time passing Fresno. I was so sleepy I had to got off the free way and I took short nap. Fortunately, I was feel good after that.

   Finally, a one week watercolor class was over. It was my last class this afternoon. I had a great class this year. A lot of students came to the class and gave me a positive energy.  Somehow, this year's watercolor class was different from previous years. The students were more eager to learn. More than seventy percent of the students were well prepared. Therefore, it was relatively easy to teach. In other words, the quality of student were high. It was the best class I ever had in Yosemite. I am looking forward to come back Yosemite already.
